Collision Funk

Aotearoa’s funk is back! Collision, pioneers of the New Zealand funk scene, are getting back into the groove after 40 years for a special performance in Harkness Henry’s Emporium of Scintillating Wonders.

Collision is a 12 piece international band that was formed in the early 1970’s out of the small timber town Tokoroa, and were formally known as the Shriek Machine.

Their self-titled album Collision was released in 1978 in Sydney, Australia, where they supported Dalvanius & the Fascinations, Ike & Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick and The Commodores.

After working with many international acts such as LRB, Renee Geyer, Australian Crawl and Wa Wa Nee over the years, Collision has returned home with second and third generation Whānau musicians to celebrate their legacy in music with the re-release of Collision Album and their new album, Collision – The Shriek Machine.
